A. E. Robinson of Beswick, Manchester started building hot air engines around 1880. Eight sizes were sold from 1/44 horse power up to 5/8 horse power.
Norris, Henty and Gardners built and sold Robinson engines into the 1920s.
A modified Robinson engine was built by gas plant manufactures Sugg
