John Ericsson's Sun Motor. Built in New York in 1872.
Ericsson had intended Californian agiculturists to takeup his sun-motor for irrigation purposes but in the end nothing came of the project. His new motor, as a pumping engine, was however a commercial success, but heated not the sun but by gas.
