The Stirling Outlet

Supply drawing and materials to build a 10 inch fan and a low Temperature engine.
Myranda is a 10 inch Stirling powered fan. It will run at about 500 rpm, with about 20° pitch in the blades. This is enough to give a gentle breeze at a distance of 3 feet.

The machining is fairly easy and can be done on a 6 inch lathe and a drillpress. There is a small amount of brazing that is required also. This is on the hot end cylinder which is made up of three pieces and the upper leg braces. These pieces can be ordered pre-brazed and the legs pre-bent at the time of the kit purchase.

The kit comes complete with everything to build the fan including ball bearings for the crankshaft, and all of the necessary nuts and bolts. The easy to follow instruction manual contains many pictures of the machining and set up processes, and a detailed set of plans. Included with the plans is a full sized stick-on pattern of the five bladed fan hub, which will save much layout time. The only things not included are the fan shroud and a suitable burner. A small, 4 ounce alcohol lamp is enough to run the fan for approximately 6 hours.

These kits are supplied by
